Our 2020-2021 Visits

We may arrange visits to local galleries, historic buildings and performances at various theatres. These trips give people a chance to get to know each other better in an informal atmosphere. Although we are restricted by our geographical situation in the south west corner of the country, we may arrange several visits a year, mainly day trips within Cornwall and Devon, but will also consider visits over several days, either to somewhere in Britain or overseas.

Some of the visits are not organised by us, in which case they would be shown as such, for example 'South West Area Event'. The Visits Secretary would be able to provide information to help you, with all events.

Special OnLine Tour of Rome!

Synopsis:

As real visits are on currently on hold for this Programme Year, we have arranged a special OnLine Tour of Rome!.

We have a treat in store for you in the from of a virtual tour of Rome’s historic squares and fountains, given by Blue Badge Guide Stuart Harvey. This will be at 10.30 a.m. on Friday 9th July, so do pop that in your diaries. We’re offering this to members free of charge as an extra lecture to this year’s programme, to thank you for your loyalty in remaining members of our Society and adapting so well to the new way of attending lectures.

Join professional Rome Tourist Guide Stuart Harvey via Zoom for a virtual stroll through Rome to discover some of the most iconic monuments of the Eternal City - the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona and much much more along the way.

Stuart has worked in educational tourism for almost 30 years, and is both a London Blue Badge Tourist Guide and a qualified Rome Tourist Guide. Using video and photos to showcase Rome, his relaxed style of communication will give you an entertaining tour that is easy on the ear, but also informative and historically accurate. He has lived in Rome for nearly 20 years.

The Vienna of Klimt and Art Nouveau - Extensive planning had been undertaken for a trip to Vienna. This has been put together with an affiliate travel partner, Travel Editions.

This trip would have been available to members of all the The Arts Societies in Cornwall.
